Using technical indicators
MetaMask Mobile includes built-in technical indicators on a token's page so you can analyze price trends without leaving the app. Moving averages and Bollinger Bands overlay directly on the price chart while RSI and MACD appear in dedicated panes below it.
Technical indicators are only available in MetaMask Mobile v8.1.0 and above.
Indicators require tokens with supported OHLCV (candlestick) data. Tokens without sufficient historical data will not display indicators.
Technical indicators are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial advice. Always do your own research before making trading decisions.
How to access technical indicators
From a token's details page, tap the candlestick chart icon in the top-right corner of the price chart to switch from the basic line view to the advanced candlestick view.
A row of indicator pills appears below the chart: MA, BOL, RSI, Volume, MACD.
Tap any pill to enable that indicator. Tap it again to disable it. To return to the simple price chart, tap the line chart icon.
Chart intervals
The interval tabs (1m · 5m · 15m · 1h · 1d) above the chart control the time period each candlestick represents. Shorter intervals show more granular recent price action while longer intervals give a broader view.
Available indicators
For more information, see our trading glossary. Tap on any indicator to access it, tap it again to close it.
Moving averages (MA)
Tap the MA pill to open a multi-select dropdown where you can choose which periods to display: MA5, MA10, MA20, MA50, MA200. You can enable multiple at once. Each overlays on the candlestick chart as a distinct coloured line.
Shorter MAs (MA5, MA10) respond more quickly to recent price changes. Longer MAs (MA50, MA200) change more slowly and reflect a longer price history.
Bollinger Bands (BOL)
Tap BOL to overlay three bands on the price chart: a middle moving average (MA20) with upper and lower bands set two standard deviations above and below it.
The bands widen during periods of higher volatility and contract during periods of lower volatility.
RSI
Tap RSI to open a dedicated pane below the chart. RSI is a momentum oscillator that measures the speed and magnitude of recent price changes, on a scale of 0–100.
Volume
Tap Volume to display a bar chart of trading volume below the price candles, showing how many units of a token were traded in each period.
MACD
Tap MACD to open a dedicated pane showing three elements:
- MACD line: the difference between a 12-period and 26-period exponential moving average
- Signal line: a 9-period moving average of the MACD line
- Histogram: the gap between the two lines, shown as bars
