How to copy your address and view account details

In MetaMask, you can copy your account's public addresses from the homepage and view account details from the dropdown selector.

Copy your public address

Your Ethereum (EVM) address is visible by default under the account dropdown. Simply click to copy.

You can choose whether you want to show or hide a default address. If this is toggled off, you can still access your addresses on the homepage by hovering over the section under the dropdown.

View account details

Click the three vertical dots next to an account from the dropdown selector and select 'Account details'.

Here you can see and edit the account name, view all addresses, switch to/from a smart account, see what wallet this account is associated with, reveal that wallet's SRP, and reveal your account's private key.

Configure your default address

You can configure the default address that shows up on MetaMask Extension. On MetaMask Mobile, there is no default address configured.

Click the menu icon in the top-right corner of MetaMask and select 'Settings' > 'Preferences and display'

preferences_and_display

Toggle 'Show default address' to show or hide the default address and choose the desired network address to show as default (example: Ethereum and EVMs or Solana).

Stay safe when copying your address

If the address you paste doesn’t match your actual address, your device may be compromised by malware (sometimes called a clipboard hack). Always double-check the address after pasting and compare the first and last few characters before sending funds.

For more information on how clipboard hacking works and how to protect yourself, see here.
