How to view CEX accounts in MetaMask Portfolio
Ever used a centralized exchange (CEX) to buy crypto, but had no reason to send it elsewhere?
You can now track assets on your CEX accounts in MetaMask Portfolio, helping you track your web3 holdings in a single location.
Currently supported CEXs include:
- Binance
- Coinbase
This guide details how to monitor the funds in your CEX account. If you'd like to transact with the funds by staking, swapping, bridging, etc., you'll need to transfer them into your MetaMask account.
You can read more here.
How it works
Since you need to prove you're the owner of the account—and entitled to view its holdings—adding the CEX account requires signing in via the CEX itself. To access the login page of the CEX seamlessly within MetaMask Portfolio, we've integrated a service called Mesh.
Adding a CEX account to your dashboard
- First, connect your wallet to MetaMask Portfolio. You won't be able to add CEX accounts unless you have a self-custodial wallet such as MetaMask connected first.
- Head to 'Overview', and locate the 'Accounts' menu on the left:
- Click the plus icon to add an account, and then select the CEX to which you want to connect:
- You will be redirected to the login flow for the CEX. Note that you will probably need to complete some multi-factor authentication here to proceed (if you don't, we recommend you set it up soon!).
- If your login is successful, your CEX will be displayed. Optionally choose a nickname, and then click 'Done' to head back to your dashboard.
To see your CEX assets, adjust the accounts menu to 'Centralized'; if your accounts menu is in the collapsed view, this section is represented by the bank icon.
If you think there are any issues with your tokens on CEXs not being retrieved or displaying incorrectly, please let us know by getting in touch with Support.
What can I do with my CEX accounts?
To transact with the tokens in your CEX account, you'll need to transfer them into your MetaMask wallet. You can transfer directly from Portfolio; see our guide here.
