Manage settings and controls of your MetaMask Card
MetaMask Card is currently in a pilot phase and is only available in certain regions. For a full list of eligible countries, see here. We’re working hard to bring MetaMask Card to more people; stay tuned for updates!
Note: the early access pilot in the US has closed. Join the waitlist and stay tuned for the upcoming card launch.
Once you’ve set up your MetaMask Card, you can manage your card through a convenient dashboard. This guide will walk you through managing your card, including how to:
- Freeze your card
- Manage your spending limit
- Add and remove approved accounts
- Add your card to your digital wallet
- View and download your transaction history
- Manage spending preference
To reach your Card dashboard, navigate to MetaMask Portfolio → click ‘Card’ in the left-hand navigation bar → click ‘Get started’.
MetaMask Card’s dashboard is accessed through Crypto Life’s website. Make sure you navigate to this external page through the links in MetaMask Portfolio. Once there, you can bookmark the correct page.
Once you are on the MetaMask Card homepage, click ‘Manage’ in the top navigation bar.
Freeze Card
To temporarily pause any activity on your card, toggle the ‘Freeze Card’ switch to on, indicated by a blue color.
To unfreeze your card, toggle the switch back to off. This allows you to start making transactions again.
View PIN
To view your card's PIN, click the 'View PIN' button. A pop-up will appear with your card's PIN.
Enable or revoke tokens
You can set spending limits for MetaMask Card to control what tokens the card uses. You can also revoke access to a token that you’ve previously given to MetaMask Card.
Enable tokens
In the 'Overview' or 'Manage' tab, click ‘Enable tokens’.
A pop-up will appear that shows available tokens in your region. For US users, you'll currently only see mUSD, USDC and aUSDC. To change the token, click on the token’s name, and then select the token you’d like to use. As you click on different tokens, you'll see what spending approval you already have set for that token.
You should also ensure you have the correct account enabled. To manage accounts, click on ‘Account’ and then check all of the accounts you would like MetaMask Card to access.
MetaMask Card currently supports mUSD, USDC, USDT, wETH, EURe, GBPe, and aUSDC. For US users, mUSD, USDC and aUSDC are the only supported tokens.
We’re working hard to expand support to more tokens.
After selecting a token, choose whether you’d like to automatically approve card spending, or if you would like to set a specific limit.
Automatically approve card spending
The ‘Approve card spending’ option allows MetaMask Card to use as much of the selected token as you have in your account.
For example, to give MetaMask Card access to all your aUSDC, you should select ‘Approve card spending’. This option will let MetaMask Card draw upon any aUSDC in your account, including any new aUSDC that you add to your account later.
Once you’ve selected ‘Approve card spending', your MetaMask will ask you to confirm this decision. On the pop-up signature page, the spending cap will be auto-populated as an impossibly high quantity of that token, effectively providing MetaMask Card with continuous access to the token.
Once you’ve set the spending cap, you should see your new card balance on the ‘Overview’ homepage. This amount will reflect the new token and the amount available for use in your account.
Approve a custom spending limit
Alternatively, the ‘Custom spending limit’ option allows you to give MetaMask Card access to a specific amount of a token.
For example, if you want to give MetaMask Card access to 250 aUSDC, you should click 'Edit limit'and enter 250.00 aUSDC.
MetaMask will then prompt you to approve the amount. You should see the amount you specified, in this case 250 aUSDC, as the spending cap amount.
Once you’ve confirmed the amount, you should see your new card balance on the ‘Overview’ homepage.
Revoke tokens
If you’ve given MetaMask Card access to a token, you can revoke that access by using the same ‘Enable tokens’ feature. In this case, we will revoke the 250 aUSDC we previously gave our card access to.
Click ‘Enable tokens,’ and then select the token that you want to revoke access to, like aUSDC. Then, click ‘Edit limit,’ and enter 0.
A confirmation will appear in MetaMask, asking if you would like to revoke the spending cap you had previously set. Click ‘Approve.’ This will revoke MetaMask Card’s access to this token.
You can also revoke token delegation in MetaMask Portfolio. Head to MetaMask Portfolio and click ‘Revoke’ on the delegated token.
Add and remove approved accounts
The process for managing accounts that MetaMask Card can spend from is the same as the process for managing spending limits. Simply add a new spending limit to add a different account, or revoke a spending limit to remove an account.
Add digital wallet
You can add your MetaMask Card to your Apple or Google Wallet for convenient, everyday use.
For Apple Wallets, follow this guide to use MetaMask Card with Apple Pay.
For Google Wallets, follow this guide to use MetaMask Card with Google Pay.
View and download transaction history
In the ‘Manage’ tab, click ‘Statement of Transactions’ to automatically download a CSV file with your transaction history. This statement includes information about the merchant, time of purchase, tokens used, currency used, and more.
Spend priority
If you have delegated multiple tokens to MetaMask Card, you can set a spend priority, which tells the card which token to spend first. Once you run out of this token, the card will start drawing upon the next token in the priority list.
In the ‘Manage’ tab, click ‘Spend priority’ A pop-up will appear with the list of tokens you’ve given your card access to.
You can reorder token priority by clicking on a token and dragging it to a new position. Remember, the #1 token is the token that will be spent first.
Click ‘Save priority’ when you’re done to save this new order.
