How to unstake from MetaMask Pooled Staking

You can unstake all or part of your stake at any time. The process is simple and has two steps:

1. Unstake your ETH. Due to how the Ethereum protocol works, it can take a few days for your request to be processed.
2. Claim your ETH after the unstake request has been processed by the Ethereum protocol.

1. On the MetaMask Pooled Staking homepage, find the account that you want to unstake from. Click the three vertical dots on the right, and then select 'Unstake':

2. Input the amount of ETH you want to unstake. The app will update to display how long it will take to unstake your ETH, and the gas fee of the transaction. This duration of the unstaking period is due to the design of the Ethereum staking protocol. If you're happy to proceed, click the 'Unstake' button to prompt a transaction in MetaMask:

3. Once the transaction is confirmed, you should see a 'Transaction complete' message that confirms how long it will be before you can claim the unstaked ETH:

If you return to the homepage of MetaMask Pooled Staking, the status of your unstaked amount will show as 'Unstaking'. You will continue to earn staking rewards until your unstaked ETH is available to claim.

Mobile

1. Navigate to the ‘Tokens’ screen. Click on your ETH or staked ETH balance.

2. On the next screen, click ‘Unstake’.

3. Enter the amount of ETH you’d like to unstake. You will see your staked ETH balance toward the top of the screen.

4. Review the transaction details. This page will display how long it will take to unstake your ETH, and the gas fee of the transaction. This duration of the unstaking period is due to the design of the Ethereum staking protocol.

5. Click ‘Confirm’ when you’re ready to proceed.

During the unstaking period, you can see an updated time estimate by clicking on your staked ETH balance from the ‘Tokens’ screen.

Claim your ETH

When the unstake period is complete, the status will update to 'Ready to claim' and a 'Claim' button will appear on the right. Click it to proceed and initiate the claim transaction in MetaMask:

Once the transaction is confirmed, your unstaked ETH will be available in your connected account and visible in your Portfolio dashboard and wallet.

Mobile

When the unstake period is complete, you can claim your earnings through the following steps:

1. Navigate to the ‘Tokens’ screen. Click on your ETH or staked ETH balance.

2. On the next screen, click ‘Claim ETH’ on the green banner.

3. You’ll see the details of your unstaking. Click ‘Claim’.

4. Once the transaction is complete, your ETH balance will update to reflect the unstaking.
