How to add a custom network

MetaMask lets you connect to many different networks. Before adding one manually, check whether it’s already supported by default.

Adding a popular network

On both Mobile and Extension, you can easily add several networks with just a click:

• Extension
• Mobile

1. Click on the menu in the top right and select 'Networks'.

2. Scroll down until you see the 'Additional networks' section and click 'Add' next to the network you wish to add.

Alternatively, you can also search for the network to add in the search bar.

1. Tap the networks dropdown at the top of the 'Tokens' tab.

2. Hier zie je een lijst met netwerken die je al hebt toegevoegd. Scroll down to the 'Additional networks' section at the bottom of the screen.

3. Tap the '+' icon to add a network, and you'll be prompted to confirm your selection. Klaar!

Adding a network manually

If you don’t see a desired network in the list, you can follow these instructions to establish the network connection manually:

1. Click on the menu in the top right and select 'Networks'. Je krijgt een lijst te zien met netwerken die je al hebt toegevoegd.

2. Click 'Add a custom network'.

3. A screen will appear where you can enter the details of the network you wish to add. Klik op 'Opslaan' om het netwerk toe te voegen.

2. Switch to the 'Custom' tab.

3. Tap on 'Add a custom network'.

4. Fill in the network's details:

Nadat je de bovenstaande stappen hebt uitgevoerd, kun je het aangepaste (custom) netwerk in de netwerkselector zien.

Adding or editing RPC URLs

De afkorting RPC staat voor 'remote procedure call', een reeks protocollen waarmee een client (zoals MetaMask) met een blockchain kan communiceren. You can add multiple RPC URLs for a single network and edit the default RPC URL from your list of networks in both Extension and Mobile settings.

Adding a custom RPC URL to Ethereum, Linea, Base, Arbitrum, or BNB Smart Chain RPC will disable Smart Transaction capabilities like MEV protection. To re-enable this, you'll need to switch back to the default RPC URL from network settings.

1. Click on the menu in the top right and select 'Networks'.

2. Locate the desired network you want to edit and click the 3 dots to edit.

3. Select the Default RPC URL dropdown field and click “Add RPC URL”.

4. Enter the URL, nickname, and save your configurations.

2. Click the 3 dots by the network you want to edit and tap "Edit".

3. Select the RPC URL dropdown field and click “Add RPC URL”.

4. Enter the URL, nickname, and click “Save” to save your configurations.

You can now toggle between various RPC URLs when you want to switch providers. To delete any RPC URL, follow the same steps above and click on the trash bin icon to delete.

Networks across devices

Adding a network on one device does not mean it will appear on another device when accessing the same account. If you add it on Extension, it will not automatically be added to your MetaMask Mobile app yet, and vice versa.

Custom networks will also need to be re-added if you uninstall the browser extension or mobile app (after which you'd need to restore your wallet using your Secret Recovery Phrase).

Adding via Chainlist

Houd er rekening mee dat we de netwerkinformatie op Chainlist niet onderhouden. Zorg ervoor dat de netwerkgegevens correct zijn, voordat je deze toevoegt.

For another way of adding networks to MetaMask, go to chainid.network, where you can connect MetaMask and add networks with a few clicks.

1. Ga op chainid.network naar de website van Chainlist.

2. Firstly, you'll need to connect your MetaMask to the site. Select 'Connect' in the top right to do so.

When successful, the address of our selected account will replace the 'Connect' button:

3. Gebruik nu de zoekbalk om het netwerk te vinden waarmee je verbinding wilt maken. Als je het hebt gevonden, klik dan op de knop 'Voeg chain toe'.

4. MetaMask zelf komt nu in actie, en er verschijnt een goedkeuringsmenu. Click 'Confirm' to proceed.

1. Ga naar de Chainlist-site met de MetaMask in-app browser.

Als je in de browser bent, kun je ofwel bovenin de menubalk op het adres tikken om naar https://chainid.network/ te gaan, ofwel onderin in de werkbalk op het vergrootglas tikken en van daaruit zoeken.

2. On Chainlist, you need to connect your MetaMask. Het account dat momenteel is geselecteerd wordt automatisch verbonden, maar je kunt gemakkelijk tussen accounts schakelen door terug naar je wallet-weergave te gaan, het account te veranderen, dan terug naar Chainlist in de browser om te verbinden.

When your wallet is connected, the selected account address will be displayed where the 'Connect' button was.

3. Zoek vervolgens het netwerk waarmee je verbinding wilt maken door te zoeken. Als je het netwerk vindt, klik dan op 'Voeg chain toe':
