UK card migration guide

Existing UK cardholders only

This article is for active United Kingdom cardholders who were issued their Virtual or Metal card before September 28th, 2026. If you are a new UK cardholder, head to Get started with MetaMask Card.

MetaMask is now partnered with Immersve to bring MetaMask Card to users in the United Kingdom. UK users who were issued a MetaMask Card before September 28th, 2026, need to be issued a new card through our new provider. This card provider change will bring you a more seamless experience with a few small changes.

Your new card will be managed entirely in MetaMask Mobile. All payments will be made on Base using USDC.

Metal Card users

Metal Cards are no longer available, and will not work after December 29, 2026. If you have a Metal Card, you will not be able to replace it at this time, and instead will be migrated to the Virtual card. Your new card will be exclusively virtual, with no annual fees.

Your previously issued MetaMask Card will stop working on December 29, 2026. Follow the steps below to be issued your new card.

Re-verify your identity

To get started, open your MetaMask Mobile app (version 8.13 or later). Tap on the menu icon in the top right corner of the screen. Then, tap ‘MetaMask Card’. If you are not logged in to your MetaMask Card, do so. A pop-up window will appear, prompting you to click ‘Get started’.

If this pop-up does not appear, head to your notifications by tapping the same menu icon in the top right corner of MetaMask Mobile. Then, tap ‘Notifications’, and select your MetaMask Card notification.

On the next screen, enter your email address, phone number, and what MetaMask account you would like to link to your new MetaMask Card.

Then, verify your identity. You will need an ID and proof of address of residency in the UK for approval.

Once you have been approved, you will be taken to the next step.

Approve spending and move your funds

Network fees

You will need ETH on Base to cover gas fees for conversion, delegating a new account, and spending with USDC on Base.

On the next screen, confirm what account you want your card to spend from. By confirming this, you will sign a transaction to approve spending from that account. This transaction will require a small network fee on Base.

Your new card spends USDC on Base. You can easily move your old card balance to your new card on the next screen, which will allow you to swap existing funds into USDC on Base. Network fees will apply. You can skip this step for now by clicking ‘Skip’.

Get your new card number

Your new card is ready. Click ‘View card details’ to see your new card number, expiration date, and CVV.
