How to stake with MetaMask Pooled Staking

MetaMask Pooled Staking is not available to users in the United Kingdom.

Before you use MetaMask Pooled Staking, please familiarize yourself with ETH staking more generally and the risks of the service.

How to stake

Portfolio

1. Head to the MetaMask Portfolio 'Stake' page by selecting 'Move Crypto' in the left-hand menu, and then click 'Stake'. Make sure your wallet is connected.

2. Select the 'MetaMask Pool' tab on the staking page. On the left of the screen you'll see a panel that includes the address of your currently selected account, a field where you can input the amount of ETH you want to stake, and a 'Staking info' box detailing the rewards rate. We'll call this panel the staking widget:

3. From the available ETH—any ETH in your selected account, indicated at the top of the widget—input the amount you'd like to stake. The estimated annual rewards, gas fee, and total transaction amount will update in the widget. If you're happy to proceed based on the displayed information, click the 'Continue' button. Clicking 'Continue' prompts a MetaMask transaction that you'll need to sign in your wallet to confirm the deposit.

4. Once you've signed the transaction in MetaMask, you'll see a 'Transaction in progress' message, followed by 'Transaction complete' once your signed transaction is confirmed on the blockchain:

Mobile

1. In your MetaMask mobile app, navigate to the ‘Tokens’ screen.

2. Next to your ETH holdings, click ‘Earn’.

3. Enter the amount of ETH you would like to stake. You can also select a percentage of your ETH, such as 25%, to stake. When you’ve entered an amount, the estimated annual rewards will automatically update. Click ‘Review’ once you’re ready to review the details of this transaction.

4. On the next screen, review the details of your transaction.

5. Then, confirm your transaction.

6. Once the transaction has completed, you’ll be able to see your staked Ethereum in the ‘Tokens’ tab. Click on your ETH or staked ETH to view a detailed breakdown of your staking balance, rewards and reward rate.

It is recommended to always keep some extra ETH in your wallet to pay for future gas fees/transaction costs with unstaking and claiming your unstaked ETH.

View your balance and earnings

Portfolio

Once you have staked Ethereum, you can view your balance, earnings, and activity history. In MetaMask Portfolio, navigate to the Pooled Staking tab by clicking ‘Move Crypto’ -> ‘Stake’ -> ‘Pooled Staking’.

Mobile

In the MetaMask mobile app, click on your ETH or staked ETH balance from the ‘Tokens’ screen.

That's all there is to it — the deposit will now be reflected and you will start receiving ETH rewards.

Since staking rewards are automatically staked, you will only realize your rewards once you unstake. Although rewards are not guaranteed, this mechanism means your stake will continually compound any rewards received without you having to take any action, optimizing your rewards.
